UCLUELET, BC - THE PACIFIC RIM

Ucluelet is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island next to the Pacific Rim National Park. It has a population of 1900 and is primarily a logging, fishing and tourist village. Ucluelet is south of the Long Beach portion of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve and north of Barkley Sound which houses the Broken Island group. Ucluelet is on a small peninsula. On the inlet side it provides a protected area for the marinas and pleasure boats. The Pacific side offers a wild and rugged coastline interspersed with small bays and beaches. The lodge is on the Pacific side. Ucluelet is a good base for sport fishing, whale watching tours, walking, hiking, surfing, ocean kayaking, golfing and nature tours. There is a foot passenger ferry service through Barkley Sound and the Broken Island Group to Bamfield on the southern end of Pacific Rim National Park. |
The Wild Pacific Trail is a right on our doorstep and there are many other beach walks and board walks through the old growth forest. The beaches nearby, include Wickaninnish Beach, Long Beach, Florencia Bay, Radar Beach, Cox Bay and Combers Beach and Terrace Beach.
The Wickaninnish Interpretive Centre displays the natural and cultural heritage of the area. Wickaninnish Beach is one the most beautiful beaches for long walks, surfing and storm watching in the winter.
